I don’t come out to everyone about it, and I’m rather selective of the people outside of certain circles who know. 

I have taken shit for being queer and/or trans.  In fact, I’m currently involved in a hate crime case that happened earlier this month (the hate crime being directed at me, if that needs saying).  I was assaulted, and my property was damaged.  Beyond that I can’t get into detail, this being the internet, and the sensitive details involved.  Needless to say, it only increases my rage at the fucking idiots that make these claims (Swanblood and related ilk).

I am trans.  I am also otherkin/therian.

I’ve caught far more shit for being trans and queer than I ever have for being nonhuman (and yes, I have come out to people about that before). 

Also, for me, I don’t subscribe to any one excuse for being nonhuman.  Like the different types or explanations of magic, I believe my nonhuman nature is BOTH spiritual as well as psychological.

People who claim to be nonhuman and compare it to being trans (along with the difficulties of being trans) are appropriative, and make it harder for those of us who are trans being taken seriously.  Full stop, end of story.

This is all related to my problem regarding people who claim to be or otherwise relate to a certain animal, yet don’t know shit about that animal, or only ape stereotypical aspects lifted from cartoon movies or related media.  If you want to know how closely you relate to a certain animal, do some real research.

Anymore when someone says “I’m a wolf!” or “My totem is the wolf” or related little things, my response tends to be “Oh isn’t that quaint, you and everyone else.”  I’m just not impressed anymore, nor do I care or bother wanting to know these people.  I have no respect for anyone who claims to be (connected to) an animal they don’t know shit about.

Another example of the piss-poor research frequently conducted by otherkin/therians.  So far, based on my extensive research, moonstone is not listed anywhere as aiding in transformation.  I could expand this to researching the use of moonstone in archeological finds (amulets, jewelry, other ancient adornments), but that would be like splitting hairs at this point.

The primary (and thus far, only) connection between moonstone and shapeshifting is that people associate moonstone with the moon due to it’s color and presentation, and werewolves with the moon due to werewolf movies.  Therefore moonstone helps werewolves.  Rosalyn Greene is a shit author who spreads much misinformation (and is believed to plagiarize a number of works in making her book), fluff and newage (rhymes with ‘sewage’) bullshit, and the sources listed in the Tumblr posts to justify moonstone=shifting are all piss-poor themselves.  Sources without references do not count.  Sources with poor references also do not count.
